At Trent Bridge, Nottingham, tonight, two great countries will battle for the semi-final berth in the World Twenty20. Currently with four points, Sri Lanka will see a direct entry into the semi-finals if they beat down the Kiwis at the quarterfinals match. However, if New Zealand triumphs, all three, including Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which have already secured four points, will tie with each other. Owing to the Kiwis’ net run rate, which is better than Sri Lanka, but not good as Pakistan, New Zealand can easily skim through to the semi-finals. To avoid the trapdoor or second-round exit, Sri Lanka needs to go in for a committed performance against New Zealand.

New Zealand Captain, Daniel Vettori, considers Brendon McCullum’s experience with Ajantha Mendis, a Sri Lankan Bowler, at the IPL an advantage in their crucial World Twenty20 clash against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka have queued up their bowling and batting line-up against the Black Caps. Though injuries to Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor, and Daniel Vettori himself add to the Kiwi’s woes, let’s wait to watch who will battle out triumphant. It’s a win to win the berth at the semi-finals situation for both the Lankans and the Kiwis.
