The Twenty20 World Cup is finally underway in England. This year, the teams include Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Bangladesh, the
Netherlands, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and the West Indies.
India, the defending champion, is off to a good start with its win against Bangladesh on 5 June 2009. India beat the Bangladesh side by 25 runs. Australia went up against the West Indies on 6 June and was badly defeated. The side lost by 7 wickets. South Africa played against Scotland on 7 June and won by 130 runs, knocking Scotland out of the World Cup. South Africa scored a total of 211 runs, the highest ever for the team in Twenty20. Pakistan lost to England by 48 runs in a crucial Group B match on 8 June.
Later today, Australia will take on Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play against Ireland.
